In May 2005, Continental Tire North America, Inc. was launching a new generation of General brand tires, introducing product lines in two new tire segments. The Exclaim UHP was General Tire’s first full line of ultra high performance passenger tires that delivered high performance in any condition and targeted aggressive performance fitments. Not only was the Exclaim UHP ranked first on an independent consumer survey, it was the UHP tire on which the Canadian General Tire Drift Team won the 2007 and 2008 DMCC Constructor Championship Title. The other additions, Grabber UHP and Grabber HP, were General’s first ever street sport truck tires for the expanding performance SUV and Light Truck market.

In January 2007, Continental Tire North America, Inc. was proud to introduce its first true winter tire, the AltiMAX™ Arctic. The AltiMAX™ Arctic was the first in a series of tires being launched under the new AltiMAX™ family name. It made its debut at the 2006 SEMA show with a preview of the AltiMAX™ HP and AltiMAX™ RT, a powerline launched later in 2007 – together with a dynamic new logo and an edgy ad campaign. To cap it all off, General Tire presented in November 2007 its new Grabber HTS, a light truck tire combining the synergy of style, durability and performance.

After several first places in light truck racing, General Tire was being named “Official Tire of Off-Road World Series” and “Official Tire of MB Motorsports Off-Road Truck Racing and FreestyleMx.com World” in 2008. In April 2009, General Tire partnered with Universal Pictures to become the official tire for the ultimate chapter of the franchise built on speed – “Fast & Furious”.

Born from the Baja, Tamed for the Street – General’s race-winning Grabber Competition tire has proven to be a champion of the desert. In 2010, General brought this advanced technology to every-day use with its new extreme-traction tire for the street and for off-road, the General Grabber. The ultra-durable micro-fibre 3-ply casing makes the Grabber the strongest General tire ever produced, and the ultimate tire to make dust soar at the 2010 OORRS.
